Palo Alto Workers Welcome New City Council

Jan. 11 - Call for Objective Organizational Performance Review

In the interest of collaboration, about 30 Palo Alto City workers welcomed the new city council at the Jan. 11 council meeting.

Last year the city was criticized for making unilateral decisions.

This year, workers are looking forward to a more collaborative relationship with the new city council.

At the Jan. 11 meeting, Palo Alto Chapter Chair Lynn Krug told the council that a great start would be conducting an objective organizational performance review of Palo Alto.

Now, budget cuts are decided arbitrarily, Lynn said, and some jobs classifications haven't been reviewed since 1996, Lynn explained after the meeting.

An organizational performance review would give a clearer picture of what is necessary in the budget and what is not.

"I think it would be fantastic for all parties involved," Lynn added. "It would give us a basis for our budget. We're very concerned with having services be the best possible services for the city. We want to have a healthy, win-win environment here in Palo Alto."
